3. Offer Education and InformationSCP co-sponsors and promotes seminars, conferences, forums, and other opportunities for education and information exchange about best practices and innovations that advance our mission and goals. (See the page on Resources & Opportunities for more information)
4. Provide Project Fiscal SponsorshipSCP sponsors projects that advance land conservation, environmental protection, cultural engagement, and education in the South. SCP serves as incubator and support center for beginning and short-term environmental conservation and educational projects. Our project fiscal sponsorship program provides creative individuals and start-up community groups the necessary administrative and financial support so that project leaders can move forward to implement the primary goals of their project. Funds contributed from donors or grant sources for sponsored projects are conveyed through SCP (a qualified, tax-exempt, charitable corporation) through agreement with the project leaders.
SCP occasionally initiates and directs special projects intended to create new collaborative, innovative approaches to protect and defend important natural heritage assets and engage diverse communities; these initiatives will eventually become independent from SCP’s initial management. See Project Fiscal Sponsorship page for more information. |
