What We Do

1. Building Alliances

Southern Conservation Partners develops and supports partnerships between local community groups and initiatives, and other organizations and corporations that want to achieve goals that align with SCP’s mission. We encourage environmentally responsible and beneficial corporations to invest and engage in southern land and natural heritage conservation.

2. Providing Guidance and Mentoring

SCP staff and its network of affiliate partners provide conservation and environmental organizations in the South with guidance, planning, and performance enhancement assistance.  Our regional network of experienced consultants are available to help local groups by:
  • providing guidance for establishing new organizations and programs
  • identifying and evaluating important biological and environmental assets
  • developing conservation, management, and restoration plans for priority places
  • helping devise strategic plans and business plans
  • recognizing, assessing, and mobilizing resources
  • employing best practices in organizational management and program procedures

3. Offering Education and Information

SCP co-sponsors and promotes seminars, conferences, forums, and other opportunities for education and information exchange about best practices and innovations that advance our mission and goals.
See "Resources & Opportunities" for more information.

4. Providing Project Fiscal Sponsorship

SCP sponsors projects that advance land conservation, environmental protection, and education in the South. Our project fiscal sponsorship program provides creative individuals and start-up community groups the necessary administrative, legal, and financial support while project leaders move forward to implement the primary goals of their project. Contributed project funding derived from donors or grant sources is conveyed through SCP (as a qualified, tax-exempt, charitable corporation) through agreement with the project leaders. SCP serves as the initial incubator and umbrella support center for beginning or short-term environmental conservation projects across the region.
See Project Fiscal Sponsorship for more information.
